The Forge

Refinement, Line by Line

No matter where you are in your writing journey, every manuscript enters The Forge at a different stage. From a light final polish to deep refinement, the mission never changes: to preserve your voice and help your story emerge stronger than it entered.

The Sample Strike

Try Before You Commit

Experience Iron Quill’s editorial approach firsthand.

Choosing an editor is about more than rates and services—it’s about finding the right fit. Before committing to a full project, you’re invited to request a complimentary 1,000-word sample edit.

The Sample Strike gives you a chance to see how I approach your manuscript and the kind of feedback you can expect. It also gives me a chance to look at your writing and help you figure out which service, if any, makes the most sense for what you need.

There is no obligation to move forward afterward. The point is simply to give us both a chance to see whether we’re a good fit before you commit to a larger project.

Investment: Complimentary (up to 1,000 words)

The Final Polish

Proofreading

The final quality check.

The final pass before publication. Proofreading focuses on catching typographical errors, punctuation mistakes, formatting inconsistencies, and small mechanical issues that can slip through earlier rounds of editing. It is best suited for manuscripts that have already been revised and edited and are nearly ready for submission or publication.

Investment: $0.014 per word
